We offer recipes suitable for puppies, kittens, adults and senior pets. Each recipe is formulated to be suitable from a specific age, so it's important to check which ages your chosen food is suitable for.
What does 'all life stages' mean?
An 'all life stages' recipe is formulated to meet the nutritional needs of pets at different stages of life, including growing puppies or kittens and adults.
Our recipes are usually suitable from 8–14 weeks of age, depending on the product.
Always check the life stage information on the product packaging or product page to confirm the minimum recommended age.
My recipe says 'adult and senior'. Is it suitable for my puppy or kitten?
Recipes labelled for adults and seniors may also be suitable for younger pets. The best way to check is to look at the recommended life stage and minimum age on the product packaging or product page. Our dry food range also has differing biscuit sizes, so we recommend checking this to ensure it's suitable for your pets jaw-size.
If your recipe is suitable for your puppy or kitten, remember that growing pets need different feeding amounts from adults. Always follow the age-appropriate feeding guidelines rather than the adult portions.
You can also use our feeding calculator to help guide you on how much to serve.
When should I switch to adult food?
If your pet is already eating a recipe suitable for all life stages, you don't necessarily need to switch foods when they reach adulthood.
However, you'll need to adjust their feeding amounts as they grow, as their nutritional requirements change.
As a general guide:
Cats: Most kittens reach adulthood at around 12 months.
Dogs: Many dogs reach adulthood at around 12 months, although larger breeds may take longer.
Your vet can advise on the best time to transition based on your pet's breed, size and development. Often, this is around the age of 12 months.
What about senior pets?
All our recipes are suitable for older cats and dogs! As pets age, their activity levels and nutritional needs may change though, so it's important to review their feeding amounts and monitor their weight.
Always check the recommended life stage on the product packaging, and consult your vet if your pet has any specific dietary requirements.
