When introducing any new food, it's important to make the switch gradually. Even if your pet loves the taste of Scrumbles straight away, their digestive system needs a little time to adjust to a new recipe.

How should I introduce Scrumbles?

We recommend transitioning your pet onto Scrumbles gradually over 7–10 days, mixing a little more of their new food with their current food each day.

This gradual approach gives your pet's digestive system time to adjust to their new food.

What if my pet has a sensitive tummy?

Some pets need a little longer to get used to a new recipe, particularly if they have a sensitive digestive system.

If that's the case, we'd recommend taking things more slowly and extending the transition to 12–14 days.

Keep an eye on their appetite, stools and general behaviour throughout the transition.

A temporary change in stool consistency can sometimes happen when introducing new food. However, if your pet develops persistent diarrhoea, vomiting or other signs of illness, stop the transition and contact your vet.

What if my pet is a fussy eater?

We know some furry friends can be a little particular about what's in their bowl!

If your pet is hesitant to try Scrumbles, start with a small amount mixed into their usual food and gradually increase it as they become more familiar with the taste and texture.

You can also try adding a little warm water to dry food to bring out its aroma.

Avoid rushing the transition or forcing your pet to eat something they're refusing. If your pet stops eating, particularly if they're a kitten, puppy or have an existing health condition, seek veterinary advice.

Do I need to adjust their feeding amounts?

Yes! Different recipes can have different calorie contents, so the amount of Scrumbles your pet needs may differ from their previous food.

Check the feeding guidelines on your Scrumbles packaging or use our feeding calculator to work out a suitable daily portion.

If you're mixing wet and dry food, remember to adjust the amounts of each so you're not overfeeding.

Need a helping paw?

Every pet is different, and some take a little longer to settle into a new food than others.
